About you!

During your first appointment, Kelly will listen carefully to you, review your medical history and any imaging you provide, and thoroughly assess your physical therapy needs with a detailed diagnostic process. She will tell you what she thinks is possible and will develop a personalized treatment plan for you. She will help you understand what’s likely causing your pain, she will train you how to stop your pain and she’ll teach you how to keep your pain from coming back.

With expertise and compassion, Kelly is committed to empowering you to feel your best!

About the butterfly

Some people have asked why we use a butterfly with a spine for our logo. Butterflies symbolize a beautiful metamorphosis. As we all learned in school, butterflies begin life as eggs. They transform into caterpillars. Next, in the chrysalis phase, the larva cells grow into butterflies. Together, we will work to create an important metamorphosis for you.

Treatment

Assess ✦ Treat ✦ Restore ✦ Prevent

When you come to Holland Spine Physical Therapy PLC, you’ll receive an in-depth evaluation that usually lasts about an hour, following the protocols of the evidence-based McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (MDT). The evaluation includes, for example, a series of repeated movements and sustained positions. Seeing the body's reaction helps Dr. Holland understand the nature of the problem and how to correct it.

Then, Kelly, a diplomate in the McKenzie Method®, will develop an initial treatment plan and begin patient education to help you understand MDT, recovery and prevention. Subsequent visits typically last 45-60 minutes. While not all conditions benefit from MDT, we know quickly if they will, and most patients experience improvement during the first session.

Treatment is available in-clinic following CDC COVID-19 practices and via HIPAA-compliant tele-health.

  • The McKenzie Method®

The McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (MDT) is an international, evidence-based method of patient evaluation and treatment for spine and extremity pain. MDT was developed by Robin McKenzie, a physiotherapist from New Zealand, and is practiced by physicians and physical therapists in more than 45 countries.

Robin discovered that musculoskeletal pain is often “mechanical” in nature, meaning that movements and postures cause pain. In similar fashion, movements and postures can be used to eliminate pain. MDT promotes recovery through patient education and empowerment to self-treat through corrective, repeated movements and postures. This method of treatment has helped millions to recover, restoring their quality of life.

    Compassionate Care

Pain is a real pain! When you’re experiencing it, you can barely focus on anything else. You want to feel like yourself again (if not better). That’s what we want, too. That’s our mission.

At Holland Spine Physical Therapy, PLC, we use the protocols of the evidence-based McKenzie Method® to understand and treat your pain. As we do, we’re committed to giving you the highest standards of care, compassion, kindness and comfort.

After a thorough assessment, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan for you. You’ll always receive one-on-one care with Kelly in a calm, unrushed environment. We’ll become partners in your recovery, and you’ll play an active role. You’ll learn what’s causing your pain, how to make it go away, and how to prevent it from coming back. That’s what we mean by “empowering you to feel your best!”
